Water Damage Recovery for Phone Speakers
If your phone was dropped in a pool, rain, toilet, or sink, act quickly. This guide covers the speaker grille – the part a sound-and-vibration cleaner can help.
Do this first
- Take the phone out of the water immediately.
- Power it off if it is soaked.
- Wipe the outside dry. Do not shake it hard or use a hair dryer on heat.
- Remove the case and dry ports with a lint-free cloth.
- Give it air time with the speaker facing down.
Then use the speaker cleaner
Open the free speaker cleaner, choose Water Eject, set volume high, and hold the speaker facing the floor for one 60-second cycle. Repeat once if the speaker is still muffled.
Sound can move water sitting in the grille. It cannot dry the logic board or undo corrosion.
What not to do
- Do not pack the phone in rice.
- Do not push cotton swabs or pins into the grille.
- Do not pour alcohol into the speaker.
